Bio:

INTRODUCTION As told by Shelby,

Hey there, I’m Shelby, a spirited 3-year-old bursting with love and energy! Though I’ve had a tough few months after my owner’s passing and brief stays with two foster families, my zest for life and affection for people have never wavered. My current foster mom lovingly calls me a goofy cuddle monster with a mischievous streak. I adore being the center of attention and am best suited for a family where I can be the only pet, soaking up all the love and affection I deserve.

I’m a bundle of joy and thrive on activity. My twice-daily walks, ranging from one to three miles, are the highlight of my day. I especially love running in the rain and getting towel-dried afterward — it’s like my own little spa treatment! With a strong prey drive, I’m an ideal fit for a home with a fenced yard where I can patrol for squirrels and rabbits. Be prepared, though — I’m quite the paper shredder and food snatcher, so my future family must stay vigilant and provide plenty of supervision and guidance.

Despite my playful antics, I’m incredibly affectionate and love hugs, pets and belly rubs from my humans. My foster mom says I’ve made significant progress in my training and will benefit from continued efforts to channel my intelligence and exuberance into positive behaviors. Nobody’s perfect, right? With a bit of patience and a lot of love, I promise to be a loyal and loving companion, ready to fill your home with joy and laughter.

 BEHAVIOR:

Shelby is a playful and affectionate dog, but she can also be stubborn and bull-headed. She loves being close to people, enjoys pets and hugs, and is compliant about entering her crate. However, she tends to chew on things, especially items like tissues, napkins and socks. Training is ongoing, and she responds well to treats.

HEALTH:

Shelby takes Cosequin for her hips. She has recovered well from her spay and is generally healthy and playful.

ADDITIONAL INSIGHTS:

Shelby’s ideal home is one with older children and no other pets, where she can be the star of the show. With patience, love, continued training and an active lifestyle, Shelby will blossom into a loyal, well-mannered companion, ready to shower her new family with doggy kisses and playful antics. Adopt Shelby and experience the joy of having this delightful, energetic and loving pup as part of your family. Shelby weighs 62 pounds, and her adoption fee is $550.
