After several months of living with my foster family, I’m finally understanding what it’s like to live in a home. I feel safer, happier and finally able to engage with loving humans. My tail wags more!

That doesn’t mean I’m perfectly trusting of everyone — even this kind foster family— yet. Seriously, I was a breeder dog for for seven years, how could I do a complete turnaround in three months! Foster mom is doing her best to interact with me. I finally let her pet me now. I’m shy about it though, kinda keep my head down and the petting doesn’t last long with it. Still, at first I didn’t want to be petted at all. Progress!

Moving through doorways — inside and outside of the house — has become a smoother process. Initially I had to be picked up! Now, I’ll do it on my own, unless my foster dad is by the door. Oh, sorry, foster dad; I know you’re kind to me, but you’re still a human male, and I find you a bit scary. I’m simply a cautious girl. I occasionally socialized with people in my former life, even with young children. But life in this world is still so new to me.

If you want to know what motivates me, it’s TREATS! I will follow foster mom anywhere for treats! This connection seems to make me feel closer to her. I sleep on the floor by her bed at night. I play by myself on the floor near her. Treats motivate me to come inside when I’m a little leery of something or someone.

My forever family will need to be willing to give me space and patience. Learning new skills and training with my family will help improve my confidence and make me feel more secure.

I’m hoping for a second chance in life. Adopting me could give my new family the joy of finding the treasure that’s been hidden inside me just waiting to shine. Would you like to be the one to guide me and to love me? I’m very sure I would love to love you back.
