“Nacho, you handsome boy.” When foster mom says she looks at me with a smile and I grin in return ’cause I know whatever it means, she’s speaking with kindness. She also says I’m sweet, gentle, and calm. From the tone of her voice, I’m thinkin’ those are happy words too.

I’m originally from Puerto Rico. My family there had to give me up because they weren’t able to take care of me anymore.

I went through a very scary moment when I got out of the yard one time and was attacked by a pack of dogs. I had surgery on my back left leg, but it didn’t work out, and had to be amputated.

The loss of the leg hasn’t had a huge impact on my life. I get around quite well! Having carpeting or rugs on floors is very helpful.  Foster mom has no long flights of stairs in her house and thinks long flights would be a bit much for me. I can easily handle the few steps into her house though. Foster mom thinks short walks are good for me and help to strengthen my other hind leg. I can actually run! Somehow I get a momentum going when I run! But foster mom doesn’t want my other legs to get overstressed, so we don’t overdo.

Living with other dogs is just fine with me! Guess I’m okay with cats, there’s one in the house I’m in now. We just look at each other—that’s as far as we go! I’m housebroken, and don’t have to be confined to a crate in the house.

I’m easily entertained! I find watching birds and squirrels out the windows to be quality entertainment!

But being near people is my favorite. I’m friendly with adults—and likely would be good with children, but there aren’t many to meet in my current neighborhood.  Foster mom says she’s never witnessed aggression in me.

So, golly, if I were a people I’d think I’d make a great addition to the family! If you agree, inquire about me!
