We contacted As Good as Gold to rescue a dog preferably over the puppy stage. We weren’t finding a good fit for our family and were on the adoption list for over a year when they called us again about, yes, a puppy!

Although a puppy wasn’t exactly what we were looking for, the quarantine was just starting and there was a female available from a recent litter of 11. Penny, now Lily, was the best decision for our family especially during the COVID isolation period. It was a pleasant distraction from what was going on outside our home. Everyone was involved in the daily life and upbringing of Lily. Lily has brought much joy to our family. She is an amazing dog, and we are so glad she is part of our family. She is truly a support dog to my boys!

Adoption Process
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS, NO EXCEPTIONS:

  • Be at least 23 years of age

  • No children under 6 years of age living in your home

  • We primarily adopt goldens to families living within Illinois, Northwest Indiana, and the southern most counties of Wisconsin

  • If you do not own your residence or live in a condo, you will need a letter from your landlord or property management company

  • Provide excellent vet care for your dog(s)

  • Do not use an invisible fence

  • Are not over your town/county's pet limit

  • Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household

  • Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment
