Are you looking for the perfect puppy?  One who is smart and sweet and calm?  I am all of that and more.  I was born on the streets of Puerto Rico.  My mom is a golden mix and sweet as can be and my dad is a mystery.  My siblings and I came to As Good as Gold to find great homes.  My foster mom says that whoever adopts me will be the luckiest family.  I don’t do any of that silly puppy biting and keep myself content with my toys.  I get along with other dogs, love people and I am doing great as a house guest.  I am very smart and learn things very quickly.

Many people have been turned off because I am a black dog and they want a golden looking dog.  I get that, but if you want a dog with a wonderful temperament, that’s me.  The vet that had my family for a little while said we are the most calm, nice puppies she has ever seen.  We all keep hearing that from people, so that means our mommy did a great job raising us.

Please consider me to become part of your family.  If you want a puppy, we take some extra work in the beginning, but it pays off in the end.  I need someone who is home a lot since I have a little bladder and need to be let out ever few hours.  I also need to go to at least two sessions of positive reinforcement obedience classes to help me keep learning some great things.

Adoption Process
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS, NO EXCEPTIONS:

  • Be at least 23 years of age

  • No children under 6 years of age living in your home

  • We primarily adopt goldens to families living within Illinois, Northwest Indiana, and the southern most counties of Wisconsin

  • If you do not own your residence or live in a condo, you will need a letter from your landlord or property management company

  • Provide excellent vet care for your dog(s)

  • Do not use an invisible fence

  • Are not over your town/county's pet limit

  • Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household

  • Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment
