A little about me: I am a wildland firefighter and now live in Northwest Indiana. I have lived in many states over my 8-year career, and I settled here because I’m close to home. Home is Syracuse NY, only 10-hours away!
I have wanted a golden retriever of my own for a long time, but due to the nature of my job I just didn’t think it was possible. But I didn’t think buying a house was either, but I bought a house, and then a new car.
I wanted to volunteer with a rescue. When I was searching, I thought I’d try to find a golden retriever rescue and that’s when I found As Good as Gold.
I saw they had a foster program and thought to myself, that well I could do that a few months out of the year. So, I signed up.
The way things were set, I was going to foster in the winter and fight fire in the summer.
But then when I got Connie life started to change; family, friends, coworkers, and even my bosses saw how good Connie was for me, and changes were made. These folks came out of the woodwork to volunteer to watch her when I get deployed.
While all of that was happening, Connie was stealing my heart. Running around the house with it too. She’d sleep on top of me, her head on my chest; despite me trying ‘really’ hard to keep her from doing this she wouldn’t allow it. She has a heart of gold for people. Loves almost unconditionally. (Unless you’re another dog).
With all of this taken into consideration I knew she couldn’t go anywhere else; her foster home would be her forever home.
She’s the absolute sweetest and is a little dramatic and I love every bit of her.
We are going to try together to get over her fear of dogs but that’s the only bit of her that could use some adjustment.
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS, NO EXCEPTIONS:
If interested please fill out our online adoption application form; please make sure you fill in every required field/question or your submission will not go through. Please note that we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care and our bios are our current observations; we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history and as such breed and age estimates are an educated guess.
