I have heard that a long, long time ago, a song came out called “Build Me Up, Buttercup.” It’s about a human boy who is head over heels for this human girl whom he calls Buttercup. Well, I guess I could be considered the canine Buttercup. Everyone who sees me is completely smitten. (Just look at my picture; I bet you think that petite little four-legged flirt is pretty darn cute, too.)
I’m a sweet-tempered, happy 2-year-old girl who started life with a breeder. But I couldn’t find my fur-ever home there, so my owner turned me over to As Good as Gold. That might seem sad, but actually, it was the best thing that could have happened to me!
Most dogs who come to AGaG find a forever family pretty quickly. Having been a breeder dog, however, I had a lot to learn about being part of a family, so my transition period was longer – and good thing it was. While being cared for by the most loving foster mom in the world, I was diagnosed with cancer. We were all shocked; I had been (and still am) an energetic, happy lady learning the ways of the world. No one – including me – had any idea I was sick.
I see you scratching your head. You cannot understand why I am so happy and feel so lucky. Well, I will tell you. Lots of people would have turned their backs on a dog with my problems, but not AGaG. The rescue is providing me with top-notch medical care to help cure me of what is curable (some minor health issues like intestinal parasites and a urinary tract infection) and manage what is manageable for as long as possible. Plus, they found me a foster mom who is totally in love with me and is willing to take care of me through thick and thin (and let’s face it, I’ve had a lot more thick than thin in my life).
My mom – and all the folks associated with AGaG – are truly angels. Not only did they take me in, but they have given me a life, a family, a home. A home where I can snuggle with mom on the floor and “talk” to (aka “bark”) at the animals I see in that box that hangs on the wall that mom calls a TV (though I still can’t figure out how all those animals get in there…).
Yes, it is unfortunate that I have medical problems. But I am so fortunate to be an AGaG dog. Someone famous once said, “It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” And thanks to AGaG, the years I have will be golden.

If interested please fill out our online adoption application form; please make sure you fill in every required field/question or your submission will not go through. Please note that we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care and our bios are our current observations; we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history and as such breed and age estimates are an educated guess.
