INTRO As told by Rylie

My effervescent smile is a sure giveaway to the fact that I enjoy life! And, when I reach out to you with my paw, my hope is that you’ll hold it for a while, not just for a second. Being near you and enjoying the closeness and petting simply soothes the soul.

And I’m an old soul, 11 years. Arthritis and hip dysplasia are keeping me close to home. I’m entertained by backyard sights, sounds and smells. Chewing on and arranging my Nyla bones also keeps me busy! I take them out of my toy basket and place them all around me in my bed. Foster mom returns them all to the basket at the end of the day, but next day I’m back on the project! I’m quite attentive, and my hearing is sharp; I’ll let you know if I hear unfamiliar noises. My ears and my sniffer are put to use when I detect a deer in the yard — I’ll let you know when they’re around!

Some seniors might tell you that their minds are as youthful as ever, but their bodies haven’t been able to keep up the pace! My back right leg doesn’t want to cooperate anymore, so walks are out, but I can get around the house and yard quite adequately! When it snows, you’ll find me rolling in it and making doggie angels. I can get into foster mom’s sedan all by myself!

Oh, foster mom wants to chime in, “Rylie is very sweet, well-behaved and easy to take care of.”

BEHAVIOR

  • Tolerates other dogs for the most part, but not crazy about other dogs
  • Fears thunderstorms
  • Knows sit, down, off, come, drop it and shake (which turns into paw/hand holding!)

  • On Gabapentin and Vetprofen for arthritis. Has been receiving Librela injections for arthritis, which has reduced limping and made her more comfortable.
