What Does Fundraising Entail?
Fundraising events are opportunities to educate the public about rescued golden retrievers and As Good as Gold, as well as raise money for the organization. Since we are a non-for profit group, we rely solely on donations to support our work. Donations go towards program services including veterinary care, canine transport and supplies, and public education as well as administrative costs.
We are always looking for creative and energetic people to help us with our two major events each year – A Golden Night Dinner and Auction and a Murder Mystery Dinner. Every talent from data entry to auction prize gathering is needed and welcome!
Members are also needed at a variety of events throughout the year, including community festivals, and larger scale events such as the IKC and Chicagoland Family Pet Expo. We normally distribute brochures, describe the adoption process, sell our products (clothing, calendar, doggie scarves, etc.), and solicit donations. Many events can even be attended by you AND your Golden…a great way to spread the word about these wonderful dogs and share your own stories.
What Does PR/Marketing Include?
PR/Marketing includes writing and editing newsletter articles and press releases, identifying and developing relationships with media contacts, coordinating AGaG website updates, tracking press coverage, formatting newsletter issues, etc.
What Education Activities Does AGaG Offer?
AGaG educates the general public at local pet supply stores about rescued golden retrievers several times each month, provides pertinent information about responsible pet ownership in our quarterly newsletter and on our website, provides training for foster families, and identifies topics and speakers for our bi-annual membership meetings.
How do I Become a Volunteer in These Areas?
You’ll need to become a member of AGaG by downloading the membership application and sending it in with the area of your interests checked off. One of our members will then contact you to get you started.
